Seriously Playful
"My practice room is certainly not the tidyest - but the bed provides convenient access to every piece of music at the same time. Actually, they are already 3-4 deep - I need a bigger bed.... I also have an audience (Alphonse is behind the stand and has fallen asleep but PooBah seems to be hanging in there). The material on the right wall is under-carpet, hung to try to reduce the sound level. And the far wall is floor-ceiling mirror... On the table we have a digital tape recorder and stereo playback and a bottle of glasses-cleaning windex!" -E.S.

An inspired student
This one came from a student who has been inspired by Vivaldi!! She now has a "moving" studio, one upstairs in the house and the other one, depicted here, in the basement.

My Practice Studio
Well, in order to get things started, I figured it is only fair to share some pics of where I currently practice. I am very lucky to practice in my studio at the Artscape Wychwood Barns. More revealing pics to come...

What is the Practice Room Project?
For classical musicians, the practice room can be a place of joy, frustration, confusion and even fear. Much of what we do in our practice room, not to mention in general, is not known to the average public. One might venture to say that what a professional musician does in the practice room is a taboo topic within the classical music community.
With the Practice Room Project, I hope to offer insight through photos and stories about the practice room experience.
